Prevention Services
Efforts to prevent suicide include a Speakers Bureau and educational seminars.
Support Services
For those who have lost a significant person to suicide, the coalition offers a Survivors of Suicide Support Group
(SOS).
The coalition also formed an early response team – Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS Team) – to
attend to the families of people who have committed suicide to provide them comfort and emotional support.
Future Plans
Projects under consideration include depression screenings for young people so that parents can seek help before
problems get worse. In addition, the group is planning community activities that publicize the need for better
understanding of suicide, depression and other mental health issues, so that action can be taken before it’s too
late. |
